Blondie and Garbage: Rage & Rapture Tour

Special Event, Rock
Blondie and Garbage plan to hit the road on a co-headlining tour this summer with more than 20 dates around the U.S. in July and August. This tour will allow Blondie to test their new material on the road: the band will release their 11th studio LP, Pollinator, on May 5th. In a statement about the new record, lead singer Debbie Harry emphasized that it will be an enjoyable affair. "We're very serious about fun," she said. "Quoting Emma Goldman, 'If I can't dance I don't want to be part of your revolution,'" added guitarist Chris Stein, reiterating her point. "In these trying times we need some fun." The band collaborated with a wide variety of songwriters from pop (Sia, Charli XCX) and rock (The Strokes' Nick Valensi, former Smiths' guitarist Johnny Marr) on the new material. Garbage also has recently released songs to perform; the band put out Strange Little Birds last year. In addition, Garbage will release an autobiographical coffee table book, This Is the Noise That Keeps Me Awake, this summer.

Avenged Sevenfold

Rock
Avenged Sevenfold effectively annihilates the distinction between punk and metal. The band eschews punk's loud-fast rules but artfully combines punk rock with melody, metal's white-knuckle intensity and powerful wails of unflinching lyrics and an adventurous spirit. Opening: A Day to Remember.

Rancid/Dropkick Murphys

Punk, Ska, Irish/Celtic, Folk, Rock, Antiques
One of the cornerstone bands of the '90s punk revival, Rancid's sound echoed the Clash's fascination with ska, while adding a bit of post-hardcore crunch. Over time, the band leaned more on the ska-punk side, finally shedding that mix in favor of a more hardcore presence. Boston-based band, Dropkick Murphys, are an entertaining fusion of punk rock and traditional Irish folk. Opening: The Selecter, Kevin Seconds.
